White hats do everything in their power to protect the public from cyber threats. They usually work for private companies or government entities that need to improve their cyber security defenses. White hats can be male or female and they may be of any age. The most important thing is that they exhibit good ethics and they care about cybersecurity issues. White hats often design software to help detect and prevent cyber attacks. Sometimes they also take part in computer forensic investigations that investigate data breaches and provide evidence in criminal cases that involve hacking.
